Nutcrafter Creamery, Moves To New And Bigger Premises At Kelburn Business Park

Riverside Inverclyde has seen a further new tenant take up the opportunity to expand and prosper at its Kelburn Business Park development in Port Glasgow. Nutcrafter Creamery, set up by husband and wife team Francesco Accollo and Aimee Jackson, creates delicious cheeses made from plant-based substances, including fermented almonds, which can be enjoyed by anyone but are especially appealing to the increasing numbers of people nationwide who follow a vegan lifestyle.

Greenock and Inverclyde Name Could Disappear After Nearly 200 Years

An identity crisis is looming under final UK Parliamentary constituency changes with the Greenock and Inverclyde name set to disappear after nearly 200 years. The Boundary Commission for Scotland has published plans to create a new 'Clyde Coast' seat merging the area with Largs, Millport, Erskine and Bishopton.

Inverclyde Teams Up With Seven Other Areas To Propose One Million Boost To Tourism Numbers

The Glasgow City Region tourism strategy has been signed by local authority leader Stephen McCabe and his counterparts from East and West Dunbartonshire, East Renfrewshire, Glasgow City, North and South Lanarkshire and Renfrewshire. The councils have made a commitment to work together to boost tourism for the benefit of all the areas over the next five years.

Two Prime Sites In Greenock On The Verge Of Being Sold

Inverclyde Council officials are locked in talks with potential buyers over the sale of the former registry office building in West Stewart Street and to offload the former Bogston petrol station site. Both are currently 'under offer' and pending completion.

Works Carried Out On Iconic Titan Crane

Contractors are carrying out maintenance on the famous 150-foot high shipbuilding structure. Health and safety work started in the spring but came to a halt due to the start of the busy summer boating season at James Watt Dock Marina.

New Soft Play Centre Opens In Greenock

Inverclyde's newest indoor play centre opened on Friday 14 September. Kids-R-Us has been created in an empty industrial unit at East Breast Street, beside the KwikFit premises. It features a large soft play area, slides, separate toddler and baby zones and a football/basketball section plus party rooms and a restaurant area.

Ardgowan Distillery Launches 'South Pole Scotch'

The Ardgowan Expedition, a 20-year-old premium blended malt Scotch whisky, contains whisky which has travelled to the South Pole and back, carried by explorer Robert Swan OBE and his son Barney on their recent low-carbon mission – the South Pole Energy Challenge. Only 600 bottles have been created, with the distillery team saying that there is one for “every mile walked to the pole”

Greenock Bar Prepares To Host Mini Festival In Aid Of Ardgowan Hospice

West bar and kitchen on west Blackhall Street will host their mini festival named ‘WestFest’ on 23 September 2018. The event will feature live music performances from local acts as well as a raffle, with prizes donated from local businesses and all proceeds going to Ardgowan Hospice.

Planners Have To Turn Their Noses Up at Gourock Takeaway Proposal

Council officials say an empty bank in Gourock cannot become a combined restaurant/hot food takeaway. Despite permission being granted for the ex-Bank of Scotland building at 19 Kempock Street to be used as a restaurant, a fresh application was rejected to include a takeaway as well due to ventilation.

A respected artist is leading a campaign to preserve the future of an historic church - by turning it into a stained glass education centre. Alec Galloway, 54, wants to use the A-Listed Old West Kirk as a place where students can learn about the art first-hand and gain a degree.

Turning The Tide On Clyde Beach Litter With Inverkip School

One hundred volunteers turned up to help Inverkip Primary School take part in their first Great British Beach Clean. The school's eco-committee organised the effort, collecting 27 bags of rubbish weighing in at 91kgs from Ardgowan Beach.

Runners Brave The Elements On 10k Inverclyde Bog Stomp

Nearly 70 people took part in the third Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park Bog Stomp in the Inverclyde hills. The 10-kilometre trail event, which has 310 metres of climbing, started from the Greenock Cut Visitor Centre at Loch Thom and was in support of the Erskine veterans charity.

The Champions Board – made up of young people with experience in care – is a new approach to support the range of agencies who are Corporate Parents to improve the care they provide.

Nursery Plan For Hairdressing Site Doesn't Cut It With Planners

A plan to turn a house with a linked hairdressing salon into a children's nursery has been refused. Inverclyde Council planning officials rejected Rose Tree Nursery's change-of-use application for 1 Grieve Road because there was not enough off-street parking proposed and no drop-off, pick-up facilities.
