ri supports Inverclyde Sports Personality Awards


 

Riverside Inverclyde, through its community activities, is to continue as a category sponsor for the Inverclyde Sports Personality awards for a second year. The Awards will be awarded at a special dinner event in the Greenock Town Hall on Friday 9 March 2018.

BBC’s The One Show Presenter, Jean Johansson, who presents these annual sports awards is looking forward to the event which is a celebration of Inverclyde’s sportspeople and recognition for all their hard work in 2017. Announcing the ri sponsorship, Chris Jewell for the organisers of the awards said:

"We are delighted to welcome Riverside Inverclyde as a sponsor for these important and exciting awards and are very grateful for their support. All of the categories of awards are now sponsored, which is great both for the awards themselves and the money we raise as part of them to provide grants to up and coming Inverclyde sports people. We have been thrilled by the number of nominees and also the record number of 38,500 votes cast - we look forward to announcing the winners on the evening."

Following the public vote to determine up to the top five with the most votes in each category, the organisers of the 2017 Inverclyde Sports Personality Awards are delighted to announce the finalists for each category. These are:

The awards are organised with the help of sponsors Riverside Inverclyde, Inverclyde Council, Inverclyde Leisure, West College Scotland, the Oak Mall Greenock, sportscotland, VA Business Solutions, Ogilvie Homes and new sponsors Specsavers. Net proceeds from the evening go towards the organisers providing grants to aspiring Inverclyde sportspeople in their bid to become regional, national and international athletes.
